STARKVILLE, Miss. – Nineteen Mississippi State baseball players are currently playing in professional baseball, with three in Major League Baseball and the remaining 15 on their road to the show via the minor leagues. Half of Major League Baseball’s 30 organizations have a former Diamond Dawg playing or coaching for their organization. Below are their updated stats following games which ended Monday, Aug. 5, 2013.

NOTES

  • Nick Ammirati signed with the Seattle Mariners Tuesday, Aug. 6, and is in Peoria, Ariz., with the AZL Mariners.
  • Luis Pollorena was promoted from the AZL Rangers of the Rookie Arizona League to the Spokane Indians of the Class A Short-Season Northwest League.
  • Hunter Renfroe is playing in the 2013 Northwest League All-Star Game Tuesday night at Everett Memorial Stadium in Everett, Wa.
  • Renfroe and Pollorena’s teams are scheduled to face each other on the diamond Thursday through Monday, Aug. 8-12 in Eugene.
  • Should Renfroe get promoted, he will play for the Fort Wayne Tincaps of the Midwest League, the same league Chad Girodo and Kendall Graveman play in (Lansing Lugnuts).
  • Adam Frazier has been  named the starting shortstop for the National League in the 2013 New York-Penn All-Star Game, to be held Aug. 13 at Dodd Stadium in Norwich, Conn. Frazier is second in the league with a .357 batting average.
