STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State’s success on the diamond in 2013 is mirrored in the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll announced Tuesday by the Southeastern Conference.

Mississippi State placed an SEC-leading 23 baseball players on this year’s academic all-conference team, matching the program-high 23 academic honorees from the 2008 campaign. Eighty-three student-athletes representing MSU’s eight spring sports were included on the league’s spring academic honor roll, based on grades from the 2012 Summer, 2012 Fall and 2013 Spring terms.

Representing MSU on the 2013 SEC spring academic honor roll are: C-Nick Ammirati, P-Ben Bracewell, OF-C.T. Bradford, INF-Matthew Britton, P-Preston Brown, P-Trevor Fitts, INF-Nick Flair, SS-Adam Frazier, INF-Sam Frost, OF-Tyler Fullerton, P-Chad Girodo, P-Kendall Graveman, P-Jonathan Holder, P-Jacob Lindgren, P-Evan Mitchell, P-Ross Mitchell, INF/P-Daryl Norris, P-Luis Pollorena, P-Trey Porter, 1B-Wes Rea, OF-Hunter Renfroe, C-Mitch Slauter and P-Brandon Woodruff.

The list does not include first-year players, who will be included in a separate academic honor roll announced by the SEC later this summer.

SEC Baseball Scholar-Athlete of the Year Sam Frost of Hoover, Ala., and junior pitcher Kendall Graveman of Chelsea, Ala., earned their fourth academic all-conference designations.

John Cohen’s fifth Mississippi State baseball edition posted a 51-20 record en route to a national runner-up finish in the 2013 NCAA College World Series. That team compiled a 3.25 grade point average for the 2013 spring semester with 24 of 34 players earning grade point averages of 3.0 or better and three posting perfect 4.0 GPAs.
