EUGENE, Ore. – Between the two, Jody-Ann Muir and Erica Bougard have garnered an impressive collection of accolades.

Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field, they grabbed even more hardware.

Bougard, a sophomore from Byhalia, Miss., captured a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon with a school-record 5,976 points, breaking the mark of 5,786 she set last year.

Muir, a senior from Jamaica, placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 52.56.

As a result, the Lady Bulldogs find themselves in 24th place overall with 8 points. Kansas is first with 48 points, followed by Oregon and Arizona State with 33 and 26 points, respectively.

“I was wanting to get third, but I’m proud of what I did and breaking the record,” said Bougard, the indoor pentathlon champion. “This was a great experience and to score was a goal I set.”

For the heralded Muir, it was her last event donning the Maroon & White.

“It’s been a great experience,” the All-American said. “I would liked to have left here with a personal best, but this is a great place to compete, and I’m proud of all I’ve achieved.”

In other MSU action, sophomore Marcus Jackson placed 10th in the high jump at 7-02.50.

Saturday, action concludes with Jason Harper in the triple jump and Piotr Antosik in the javelin.

“I’m so proud of what Erica and Jody-Ann achieved today,” MSU coach Steve Dudley said. “Both wanted to do even better, and I love the competitiveness each have the inner-drive they possess.”
