STARKVILLE, Miss. --- Three more Mississippi State baseball players had their names called Friday during the second day of Major League Baseball’s 2013 First-Year Player Draft.

On the eve of competition in the NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional, junior shortstop Adam Frazier of Bishop, Ga., was selected in the sixth round (179th pick) by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

A pair of senior Bulldog pitchers were also selected in the first 10 rounds and both by the same club. Kendall Graveman of Alexander City, Ala., State’s scheduled starter against Virginia Saturday, was taken in the eighth round (235th selection) by Toronto while relief pitcher Chad Girodo of Hartselle, Ala., was a ninth-round pick (265th selection) of the Blue Jays.

Frazier, a starter in all 64 MSU games this season, carries a .344 batting average with 94 hits and an SEC-leading 221 assists into NCAA Super Regional Competition.

Graveman (6-5, 2.94) is slated to make his 17th start of the season and the 46th of his career Saturday. Girodo (7-1, 1.10) ranks second on the team in wins and registered 12 of his 53 strikeouts Monday in a regional-clinching 6-1 win over Central Arkansas.

Junior outfielder Hunter Renfroe of Crystal Spring, Miss., was the 13th player taken overall in the 2013 draft Thursday (San Diego), becoming the 12th Mississippi State player all-time chosen in the opening round of the MLB draft.

State last had four top-10 round draft selections in 1999. A school-record five Diamond Dogs, including first-round picks Will Clark and Rafael Palmeiro, went in the first 10 rounds of the 1985 draft.
