STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State's Lady Bulldog tennis squad (7-10, 1-8 SEC) will head to Columbia, S.C., to face the No. 29 ranked Lady Gamecocks of South Carolina (11-8, 4-5 SEC) in a Friday match at 4 p.m. CT

MSU is coming off of a tough 4-1 loss to in-state rival No. 37 ranked Ole Miss last Friday. Lady Bulldog junior Alexandra Perper posted the sole Maroon and White victory of the afternoon with a solid 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Julia Jones of the Lady Rebels.

Lady Bulldog tennis currently boasts two national rankings on its roster. No. 124 ranked true freshman Georgiana Patrasc holds a 17-12 record in her debut season as a Lady Bulldog, leading the MSU team primarily from the No. 1 singles spot. Patrasc is joined by Perper and Naomi Tran who pair up to claim the No. 56 doubles ranking in the country.

The Lady Gamecocks are currently on a two-match conference winning streak after posting impressive wins against No. 44 ranked Arkansas and, most recently, a 5-1 triumph over No. 59 ranked LSU on the road.

Jaklin Alwal and Dominika Kanakova of the Lady Gamecocks pair up to take the No. 50 ITA doubles ranking. The duo stands at an admirable 21-8 in doubles play this season. In singles competition, South Carolina holds two singles rankings. Alwal sits at the No. 87 slot and Katerina Popova claims the No. 98 singles spot.

Lady Bulldog tennis will conclude its weekend competition with a Sunday road match against the No. 2 ranked Lady Gators of Florida at 9 a.m. CT. Updates for both MSU matches can be found on Twitter at @mstateWT. Live stats can be found on
