STARKVILLE, Miss. – The friendly confines of the MSU Softball Stadium will welcome home the Mississippi State softball team (20-10, 1-5 SEC), as the Bulldogs battle Auburn (21-13, 2-7 SEC) in a three-game set starting with a doubleheader Friday at 4 p.m. The series wraps up Saturday at 1 p.m., with an Easter egg hunt for all children taking place immediately following the series finale. Admission is free for those that can attend, but for those that cannot, live video and audio streaming of the series will be available online to HailStateTV subscribers (

Looking to snap a four-game losing streak, the Maroon and White will try to extend its 28-23 all-time record against the Tigers, including a 15-9 mark in Mississippi’s College Town. The Tigers won two out of three last May to close the 2012 regular season, with the series tied at five in the previous 10 matchups.

Led by junior slugger Sam Lenahan, the Bully Bombers will be looking to get hot at the plate this weekend. Lenahan enters the weekend having reached base safely in a career-high 23-consecutive games, thanks in large part to her walks per game (0.92, 14th) and on-base percentage (0.56, 21st), both of which rank in the top 25 in the NCAA. Also doing work at the dish is redshirt junior Erin Nesbit, who in her last 10 games is 10-for-22 (.455) with eight walks, five RBIs, two runs and a double.

In the circle, Head Coach Vann Stuedeman's pitching staff is 35th nationally in ERA (1.99) and is on pace to shatter the school records for strikeouts (on pace for 513), opponent batting average (.173) and strikeouts per seven innings (9.6). After pitching five shutouts in 57 games total in 2012, the MSU pitchers have already shut out seven opponents through 30 games this season.

Bulldog pitchers are holding opponents to a .141 average (33-for-234) with two outs, while the team is out-scoring opponents in two-out RBIs by a 47-14 margin.
