STARKVILLE, Miss. - With frigid temperatures sweeping the southeast, Mississippi State's women's golf team travels to Peoria, Ariz., for the Westbrook Invitational at the par-72, 6,269-yard Westbrook Village Golf Club.

Beginning Sunday, the Wisconsin-hosted event is the second two-day, three-round tournament for the Lady Bulldogs this season. Previously in the Johnie Imes Invitational, MSU posted a seventh-place finish.

"We are ready to get back out," third-year MSU head coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "We ended the fall on a positive note in Las Vegas, so I know the girls are ready to get back out to Arizona and start the spring off on the right foot."

The Lady Bulldogs' lineup is identical as their last trip to out west. Ally McDonald claims the top spot with Rica Tse and Gabi Oubre' earning the No. 2 and 3 positions. Mary Langdon Gallagher and Elena Warren round out the travel squad at four and five, respectively.

McDonald hopes her trip to Arizona nets the same result as the fall season-ending Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. The sophomore claimed her first-career win with a 2-under-par 214 card. Her current 72.17 scoring average not only ranks fourth in the SEC but is on pace to break MSU's all-time record.

Tse also notched the best finish of her season in Las Vegas with a share of ninth-place. Her 75.00 average clip falls just outside the SEC's Top 25, but she believes the team's one-shot mentality could pay dividends this spring.

"We just have to play our best," the sophomore from Aukland, New Zealand, said. "It has been a while since we've played a tournament, so we are really itching to get back out there."

Wasting no time making her mark on the team, Oubre' has solidified her spot in the Maroon and White lineup. Her 76.92 scoring average is third on State's squad and ranks in the Top 10 among SEC freshmen.

The most veteran player on the Lady Bulldog roster, McDonald, enters the spring following the best fall of her career, while Warren is appearing in her third event this season.

MSU will square off against SEC-foe and seventh-ranked Arkansas along with No. 9 Washington, No. 14 Texas Tech, No. 44 Wisconsin, Indiana Washington State, Kansas State, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Colorado State and Nebraska.

"With a top-heavy field, we have the opportunity to post a good finish and climb the rankings," Brown-Lemm said. "The girls must keep focusing on what Coach Phillips and I have preached all season, play one shot a time. If we are 'one-shot warriors,' we will be successful."

The Illini won 2012's edition of the Westbrook Invitational with an 11-under-par 853.
