Lady Bulldogs Travel To Fayetteville For Indoor SEC Championships
"We have a great group of athletes traveling to Fayetteville," coach Steve Dudley said. "Each girl is deserving to be there, and if they compete at their highest level, then our journey to the top is even more attainable."
Pacing the Maroon and White throughout the season, sophomore Erica Bougard will see the most action for the squad. Bougard, who earned a spot on last year's All-SEC Freshman Team, will compete in the 60-meter hurdles, long jump, triple jump, pentathlon and the 4x400-meter relay. She ranks first on MSU's all-time pentathlon list (4,109 points) and second in the SEC.
"My goal is to just stay focused and try to score higher in my better events," Bougard said. "I'm going to give it my all and hope that's enough to pull through with the win."
Senior Kanishia Carey will also provide leadership for the Lady Bulldogs, competing in the 400-meter dash, the 4x400-meter relay and the 4000-meter distance medley relay.
Conference competition will begin at the Randal Tyson Track Center on Friday at 1 p.m., continue Saturday morning at 10 and conclude Sunday at 5 p.m.
Live results can be found on flashresults.com throughout the meet. EPSN3 will broadcast the majority of the Indoor SEC Championships on both Saturday and Sunday, while ArkansasRazorbacks.com will show the rest of the meet. Dwight Stones (play-by-play), Larry Rawson (color analysis) and Lewis Johnson (sideline reporter) will provide the commentary for the ESPN showing.
