STARKVILLE, Miss. – After posting an exciting 4-3 victory against Houston this past Sunday to go 2-0 on the season, Mississippi State Lady Bulldog tennis is set to host the Lady Privateers of the University of New Orleans Friday on the MSU campus. The contest will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
Lady Bulldog freshman Georgiana Patrasc could be an important component in the Friday match against UNO. Patrasc clinched the MSU victory against Houston with a three-set thriller at the No. 2 position Sunday. She and fellow rookie Sarai Flores are both 2-0 on the young 2013 campaign. Also winning Sunday versus Houston for State was veteran Alexandra Perper with a straight-set win at the No. 1 position in her season debut.
The Lady Privateers currently stand at 0-1 on the season, following a 5-2 loss to Nicholls State this past Saturday. In their history as opponents, the Lady Bulldogs have never been defeated by New Orleans.
“The girls have impressed me with their effort in our 2-0 start. It is early in the season, and I like what the team is becoming. We need to ready to bring the same energy and focus tomorrow,” said head coach Daryl Greenan.
