STARKVILLE, Miss. - More than 730 Mississippi State students got a jump on the 2013 baseball season Tuesday night in the Palmeiro Center, gathering for the second annual preseason sign-up night for The Dudes, a student-based support group for MSU baseball.

Tyler Bratton, MSU's director of baseball operations, and fifth-year MSU head coach John Cohen addressed the group during the organizational meeting, which also included various video presentations about The Dudes, special members-only seating opportunities in the stadium grandstand, and the fifth-ranked Mississippi State baseball team. The 2013 "Dudes" received t-shirts and instructions regarding inseason promotional events at MSU's school-record 37 home baseball games.

The organization is named after C.R. "Dudy" Noble, the namesake of Mississippi State's on-campus baseball facility. The Bulldogs, who open their 123rd season of baseball Feb. 15 against Portland, could register their 1,000th win at the current Dudy Noble Field site on opening weekend. State has registered 998 wins in 46 seasons since beginning play at the present on-campus location in 1967.
