Women's Tennis USM Preview - 1/28/13

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Prepped to make a splash after the fall campaign, the Mississippi State Lady Bulldog tennis team will open its 2013 dual match season against Southern Miss, Tuesday. Match time is set for 2 p.m. at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.

Beginning his fourth season with the Maroon and White, head coach Daryl Greenan anticipates an exciting season. The Lady Bulldog squad will feature veteran juniors Alexandra Perper and Rosie Dion, along with sophomores Naomi Tran and Petra Ferancova. The seasoned duo of Perper and Tran paired up to claim the No. 54 national ranking in ITA doubles play (fourth in the Southern Region), after reaching the quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional Indoor Championships this fall.

Perper is ranked 11th in the ITA Southern Region.

The addition of true freshmen Sarai Flores, Georgiana Patrasc, and Lien Van Geel rounds out the new-look Lady Bulldog roster for 2013. Patrasc is ranked 17th in the ITA Southern Region.

"I think the team is ready to start the season. We have three new players and four returners, and they are all excited to play. They have been working hard to take our program to the next level. We look to begin the season on a positive note against Southern Miss tomorrow," said Greenan.

Tuesday's match will also open the spring campaign for the Lady Eagles of Southern Miss.
