STARKVILLE, Miss. - As practice for the spring season gets rolling, the Maroon Tee Classic has finalized plans for the Third Annual Maroon Tee Classic to be held at Old Waverly Golf Club on Friday, May 3.

Slated for a 9:30 a.m. shotgun, the four-man scramble is hosted by the Maroon Tee Club, a fundraising organization founded in the fall of 2010 to assist both the men's and women's golf programs.

In addition to your foursome, an MSU player, coach or administrator will be playing alongside your group. Lunch will also be provided beginning at noon on the course, and a silent auction will follow the day's events.

Later that evening, the 13th-ranked Diamond Dogs play host to SEC-rival Alabama at 6:30.

"This is a great opportunity for our fans and loyal supporters to come out and get to know our coaches and student-athletes in a fun day of golf," men's coach Clay Homan said. "Old Waverly is always in fantastic shape in early May and the weather is usually ideal. There will be plenty of Bulldog gear to win and a few one-of-a-kind items will be auctioned off as well. I hope everyone can come out and enjoy the day."

The previous two events have provided funds for a new practice facility at the MSU Institute of Golf as well as cutting-edge swing analysis equipment.

This year's event will raise funds for an addition to the practice facility as well as a team building that features locker rooms, conference and recruiting rooms, a player lounge and five hitting bays. Naming opportunities are available for the building.

"We are so fortunate to have support from our Bulldog nation in the Maroon Tee Club," women's coach Ginger Brown-Lemm said. "Their efforts have allowed us to move forward with critical additions to our training facilities. SamPutt Lab has proved to be invaluable with the women's team as we now lead the SEC in putting. Our focus is now shifting toward raising awareness and funding for our team building.  We are shovel-ready with the plans; we just need the financial backing. I know our needs will be met with the support from fans of Our State."
