STARKVILLE, Miss. - More 300 baseball coaches from throughout the region and representing a variety of levels of the sport gathered in the Palmeiro Center Friday for the 2013 Mississippi State Baseball Coaches Clinic. The day-long clinic was open to all baseball coaches with no charge for admission.

Fifth-year MSU head baseball coach John Cohen and members of the Bulldog coaching staff, including associate head coach Butch Thompson, assistant coach Nick Mingione and camps coordinator Jake Wells, were among the presenters who covered a wide array of baseball coaching-related topics during the clinic.

Presentations included Prescription Hitting, Pitching Absolutes, The All-Around Catcher, Defensive Drills For The Dirt, and Ways to Score Other Than Hitting. The afternoon "skull session" covered various aspects of pitching, offense, defense and strength training and included demonstrations by former Mississippi State baseball players.

The 13th-ranked Bulldogs, featuring 23 returning lettermen from last year's SEC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament edition, begin formal preseason team practice January 25 at Dudy Noble Field.
