STARKVILLE, Miss. - After breaking a week to wrap the fall semester, the Mississippi State women's basketball team returns to action Sunday when it hosts Florida A&M in a 2 p.m. tip at Humphrey Coliseum.

The contest will be broadcast live on WKBB-FM 100.9 and WXWX-FM 96.3. HailStateTV subscribers can watch a live video stream or listen to the audio stream at www.hailstate.com/hstvlive.

Following the game, fans can meet the Bulldogs during an on-court autograph session.

Vic Schaefer's squad returns to action following its best defensive showing of the season in a 59-58 win against Florida Atlantic on Dec. 7.

State looks to stay impressive at home, as it has compiled a 4-1 mark inside the Hump this season en route to a 4-5 overall mark.

Freshman Sherise Williams paced the Bulldogs in its first of two-straight games against teams from the Sunshine State. The St. Louis native scored a season-high 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field.

In her last three games, Williams has gone 13-of-19 from the floor (68.4 percent) to average 11.3 points and 7.3 rebounds. On the season, Williams is scoring at a 6.7 clip and averaging 6.4 rebounds.

Sophomore Kendra Grant paces the Bulldog scoring with a 14.1 clip that is ninth overall in the SEC and second among league sophomores.

The Richland, Miss., native scored 10 points in the win against Florida Atlantic, giving her double-digit scoring in five-straight games and eight of the team's first nine.

Fellow sophomore Martha Alwal is also averaging double-figures in points this season, scoring at a 12.9 clip. Part of that scoring average includes an 88.0 percentage from the free-throw line, a tally that is third in the SEC and 43rd in the nation.

Alwal recorded her fourth double-double of the season against the Owls, pulling down 13 in the win. She enters Sunday's contest averaging an SEC-best 9.7 rpg.

In addition to her 13 boards, Alwal also added a season-high seven blocks against FAU. She rates second in the conference and 18th nationally with 2.9 swats per contest. Alwal has blocked 108 shots in her young career, putting her one shy of tying former Bulldog All-American LaToya Thomas for third in the school record book.

State will be looking for another outstanding defensive effort on Sunday after it held Florida Atlantic to a season-low 29.3-percent tally from the field.

The Bulldogs meet a FAMU team that is 2-6 on the year and has dropped five-straight decisions. The Rattlers are shooting 35 percent from the floor and being out-rebounded by nearly 12 per contest.

Jasmine Grice leads Florida A&M in nearly every offensive category. She tops the squad in scoring at 23.1 ppg and rebounding (6.6 rpg).

Following Sunday's contest, the Bulldogs host Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. Thursday before breaking for Christmas.
