STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State senior outside hitter Chanelle Baker has been named to the 2012 SEC Volleyball Community Service Team. It's the ninth year for the SEC-sponsored program that highlights athletes from each school who give back to their community in superior service efforts.

Baker has served as a volunteer during Special Olympics activities on campus and has participated in the MSU M-Club's annual "Bully's Book Blitz, encouraging the development of reading skills among local elementary school students.

The Carrollton, Texas, native has also participated in MSU's "Breakfast of Champions" reading campaign kickoff event and joined other MSU athletes in signing autographs and visiting with patients at the Batson Children's Hospital during the hospital's "Bulldog Extravaganza" in Jackson, Miss. In August Baker assisted first-time MSU students moving into their on-campus housing as part of the MVNU2MSU "move-in day" assistance volunteer program.

The other SEC volleyball athletes included on this year's community service team include Kayla Fitterer (Alabama), Hayley Koop (Arkansas), MacKenzy Harper (Auburn), Betsy Smith (Florida), Nicole Choi (Georgia), Jessi Greenberg (Kentucky), Madie Jones (LSU), Whitney Craven (Ole Miss), Paige Wheeler (South Carolina), Jasmine Brown (Tennessee) and Tori Mellinger (Texas A&M).
