ESPN and the Southeastern Conference announced Wednesday that the Mississippi State-Auburn baseball series at Dudy Noble Field will be moved up a day to accommodate a Thursday night telecast on ESPNU. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
"We're excited about the opportunity to again showcase Mississippi State baseball on national television during Super Bulldog Weekend," said head coach John Cohen. "Thursday night is a great night for baseball on a college campus, and our students embraced this event in a great way last year."
Catcher Mitch Slauter's 11th-inning sacrifice fly lifted Mississippi State to an exciting 2-1 win over Tennessee in last year's Super Bulldog Weekend series-opener televised by ESPNU.
Seven Thursday night games are included in this year's lineup of broadcasts on ESPNU's Thursday Night SEC Game of the Week series for 2012, which begins its third season March 28 with the Texas A&M-South Carolina game. An eighth SEC "wild card" selection available online on ESPN3 will be added for May 16 on the final weekend of the 10-weekend SEC baseball season.
Mississippi State hosts first-time foe Portland in a four-game series Feb. 15-17 to open a 37-game home schedule for 2013. The Bulldog schedule includes a season-opening 20-game homestand and three-game conference series against Alabama, Auburn, Florida LSU and South Carolina.
