STARKVILLE, Miss. - The NCAA released its annual Graduation Success Rate Report on Thursday, and Mississippi State continued to exceed several national averages. The data used for the report was compiled from incoming student-athletes during the years of 2002-05.

The Mississippi State athletic department as a whole averaged a graduation rate of 80 percent during the four-year cohort.

Bulldog programs exceeded the national average of Football Bowl Subdivision schools in baseball, men's track, men's tennis, women's basketball, women's track and cross country, soccer, women's tennis and volleyball. Men's tennis, women's golf and softball each posted 100 percent graduation rates during the cohort period.

"At the core of our mission is providing student-athletes with the opportunity to earn a college degree, and I believe you can see through the numbers released today we have been successful in working toward that goal," director of athletics Scott Stricklin said. "Our student-athlete support system in academics, compliance and throughout our department work diligently to continue to ensure every athlete is afforded the opportunity to graduate from Mississippi State University."
