BATON ROUGE, La. - Despite a career-best and team-leading eight kills by freshman Katie Enright and match-leading 26 digs by rookie libero Roxanne McVey, Mississippi State (4-18, 0-13 SEC) dropped a straight-sets decision at LSU Sunday in an SEC Western Division volleyball match at LSU's Maravich Center.

The win gives the Tigers (10-13, 6-8 SEC) a sweep of this year's two-match series.

LSU claimed the upper hand and never trailed in the first two sets, winning 25-12 and 25-20. A tiger attack error gave MSU its first lead of the day at 2-1 in the third set, and a Lainey Wyman service ace pulled State to within two at 11-9 before LSU took command down the stretch for a match-clinching 25-18 win.

Enright, making her fifth start for State, finished with eight kills and a team-best three blocks.

With 26 digs SEC digs leader Roxanne McVey notched her fourth-highest digs total of the season and climbed into MSU's all-time top 10 list for digs in a season. The Magnolia, Texas, product has an SEC-leading 420 digs, just 91 off the school record of 511 set in 2007 by Megan Lukasek.

Madie Jones had 14 kills on a .429 hitting day and Helen Boyle added 10 more as LSU amassed a 44-23 advantage in kills. Elliott Desiree also played a key role for the Tigers at the net, backing an eight-kill performance with seven total blocks.

The Bulldogs return to SEC volleyball action and play their first matches at the Newell-Grissom Building since September when State hosts Tennessee (Nov. 2 --- 7 p.m.) and Alabama Sunday (Nov. 4 --- 1:30 p.m.).
