STARKVILLE, Miss. - Following a near-flawless performance Saturday evening in Mississippi State's 41-31 nationally-televised home win against Tennessee, right guard Tobias Smith was named Co-SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league announced Monday. Smith is the first MSU offensive lineman to pick up the award since All-American Derek Sherrod earned the honor four times in 2010.

Smith graded out at 95 percent and recorded 12 knockdowns despite playing only three quarters. The Columbus, Miss., native blocked for junior running back LaDarius Perkins, who ran for his third 100-yard game in his last four contests. In pass blocking the team captain blocked for junior quarterback Tyler Russell, who behind Smith passed for a career-high 291 yards.

The senior and his undefeated No. 15 Bulldogs return to action Saturday night at Davis Wade Stadium for homecoming against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN2 and the Mississippi State Radio Network.
