STARKVILLE, Miss. - For the second time in six weeks Mississippi State libero Roxanne McVey has been honored as the SEC Volleyball Freshman of the Week.

The Magnolia, Texas, native piled up 65 digs in two league matches last weekend, earning a place in the SEC record book with a remarkable 50-dig performance against LSU Friday night in the Newell-Grissom Building. McVey's stellar defensive showing bettered the previous SEC record of 46 set in 2006 by former Florida standout Elyse Cusack and stands as the 20th 50-dig performance all-time in NCAA volleyball. It's the most digs in an NCAA match this season.

She leads the SEC with 337 digs and averages 6.36 scoops per set, second-best in the NCAA, and 26.9 digs per match.

McVey earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on opening weekend when in three matches she rang up 88 digs, including a school-record 42. She joins former Bulldog Martina Gregusova (2006) and current Bulldogs Paris Perret (2010) and Lainey Wyman (2011) as the fourth two-time winner of the weekly SEC award from Mississippi State.
