MSU's Roxanne McVey 2nd In NCAA In Digs

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Bulldog freshman libero Roxanne McVey is second in the nation in digs in the NCAA's first statistical report for the 2012 college volleyball season.

McVey, from Magnolia, Texas, has tallied a Southeastern Conference best 204 digs, averaging 6.00 digs per set, the second-best average in the NCAA three weeks into the 2012 campaign. In an opening weekend match against Kennesaw State Aug. 25 McVey established a school single-match record with 42 digs.

As a team Mississippi State continues to lead the SEC in digs, averaging 17.29 per set, 26th-best in the latest NCAA statistical report.

Mississippi State opens its 20-match SEC volleyball schedule this weekend at the Newell-Grissom Building, entertaining Auburn Friday at 7 p.m. and Georgia Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
