ATHENS, Ga. - Freshmen Pedro Dumont and Jordan Angus fought hard, but fell just short Monday of a championship round bid in the 2012 Southern Intercollegiate Championships, ending Mississippi State's run in the tourney.

Dumont and Angus faced Florida's Michael Alford and Florent Diep with a spot in the Division I Doubles championship on the line. The Bulldog doubles partners looked to pull an upset against their Southeastern Conference opponents, but Alford and Diep pulled away early, earning an 8-3 victory.

"I am very proud of the way these guys played in this tournament," Nilsson said. "They blew away our expectations and made us excited for what is to come."

With the Southern Intercollegiate in the books, the Bulldogs will turn their focus towards the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The tourney is set to begin Sept. 29, 2012.
