STARKVILLE, Miss. - A weekend of food, fun and fellowship spiced with a golf tournament, baseball activities at Dudy Noble Field and a Southeastern Conference football game at Davis Wade Stadium await former MSU baseball players returning Oct. 12-13 for MSU Baseball Alumni Weekend on the MSU campus.

Head baseball coach John Cohen, the MSU staff and the 2013 State baseball team will host the former Diamond Dog players for the biennial event, which kicks off with a Friday afternoon four-man, 18-hole scramble golf tournament (1:30 p.m. shotgun start). Tournament prizes will be awarded Friday evening at a baseball alumni cookout (6:30 p.m.) hosted at the home of John and Nelle Cohen.

The cost of playing in the golf tournament at the MSU Institute of Golf (formerly the MSU Golf Course), is $25 per person, and includes green fees, cart and golf balls for the driving range. At a cost of $20 per person, Friday evening cookout participants will be treated to a choice of a 16-ounce ribeye steak or a grilled chicken half, with hamburger and hotdog meals available for children.

The activity shifts to Dudy Noble Field, the home of the Diamond Dogs, for an alumni/intrasquad scrimmage game (12 p.m.), with former Diamond Dogs teaming with current team members in a Maroon-White game.

Returning baseball alumni will also be afforded an opportunity to watch the Mississippi State-Tennessee football game Saturday. An evening kickoff time for the MSU-UT football game at Davis Wade Stadium is anticipated. An adjustment to the days' schedule will be announced should an earlier Saturday kickoff time be established. Returning baseball alumni will receive one complimentary ticket to the game, with a limited number of additional football tickets available through the MSU Athletic Ticket Office (662-325-2600) while supplies last.

"We are looking forward to welcoming our former Mississippi State players and their families back to campus again this fall," said Coach John Cohen. "Our staff has put together a nice variety of events that includes something for everyone. The weekend affords our former athletes a chance to get back together on campus and provides our current players with a unique opportunity to meet many of the athletes that have contributed to the great tradition of excellence in baseball at Mississippi State University."

The dugouts at Dudy Noble Field will be open to alumni player families while tours of the baseball facilities along with youth-centered activities are planned for the Palmeiro Center, the MSU locker room and on the field during the alumni/intrasquad scrimmage.

Baseball alumni are asked to RSVP by September 28 through the MSU Baseball Office (baseball@athletics.msstate.edu / 662-325-3597).
