Registration Still Going for Lady Bulldog Basketball Camps
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Registration continues for Mississippi State's Lady Bulldog summer basketball camps. The camps, which begin June 6, give participants the opportunity to learn the game from new head coach Vic Schaefer and his championship-winning coaching staff.
The schedule opens with the June 6-9 individual camp. The Lady Bulldogs host two position camps (June 13-15 and 27-29) and a team camp June 15-17. A shootout camp will be conducted June 16, while the summer slate ends with the elite camp June 30-July 1.
The individual camp is open to grades 6-12 and consists of personal instruction from Schaefer, associate head coach Johnnie Harris, assistant coach Aqua Franklin and director of operations Maryann Baker.
The individual camp is geared to help players work on the "total" game. Campers will go through individual drills, position work, shooting and fast breaks while also being involved in team practices and league games.
Like the individual camps, MSU's two position camps are also open to players in grades 6-12. Campers will be split by age groups, and instruction will focus on the players' primary position (guard, forward, center).
During the position camps, players will work on posting up, feeding the ball to the post, perimeter shooting off the dribble and screens, point guard responsibilities, finishing moves to the bucket and more.
MSU's highly-regarded team camp offers high school, junior high and AAU teams the opportunity to play up to nine games during the three days. The camp offers teams the opportunity to compete against other top competition while gaining assistance from the Lady Bulldog camp staff.
During the team camp, the much-anticipated shootout camp features a day of intense competition, offering squads the opportunity to play three games in one day.
The Lady Bulldogs end the summer with the elite camp, which is open to players in grades 9-12. The three-day camp offers highly-skilled, advanced high school players the opportunity to receive preparation for the college game from Mississippi State's championship-winning coaching staff.
