Agents

When it comes to Athlete Agents, Mississippi State University strives to protect our student-athletes from undue influences and attempts to protect Mississippi State University from NCAA violations involving agent regulations, as well as monitoring for adherence to the State of Mississippi's existing laws.  We want to work with any agent wishing to contact our student-athletes in order to give every individual equal opportunity to present themselves and their credentials to our student-athletes.  We ask that you do the following prior to contacting one of our student-athletes:

1) Contact the compliance office at 662-325-8731 or via email at ssmith@athletics.msstate.edu.  Please notify us in writing which student-athlete you wish to speak with and all individuals that may be contacting these student-athlete's on behalf of your organization.  This is required by state law to be completed PRIOR TO ANY contact with a student-athlete in the State of Mississippi.

2) Our office will check to ensure each individual wishing to speak with a student-athlete concerning future representation by themselves or on behalf of another individual is registered with the MS Secretary of State's office.

3) Once each individual is cleared for state registration the student-athlete and their family will be given contact information for each individual wishing to speak with them about future representation and that individual will be notified as well.

We understand the profession of an athlete agent is a very difficult and competitive field.  We only ask that you respect our wishes and maintain open lines of communication with our athletic department.  In return we will do everything possible to allow you as much access and opportunity to present your credentials and demonstrate your character to our student-athletes and their families.
