MSU Soccer Plays USM, Hosts Free Clinic Saturday In Gulfport
STARKVILLE, Miss. - Two weeks after opening its spring state-wide tour in Tupelo, Neil Macdonald's Mississippi State soccer team travels to the other end of the state Saturday as it plays Southern Miss and hosts a free clinic at Gulfport High School.
The two teams will meet on the pitch at noon, with the free clinic for ages 8-12 running from 2-3:30 p.m. The first 50 players will receive a free t-shirt.
"We are very excited to be playing in Gulfport," Macdonald said. "We have had some very talented players come from the area, and it is a great soccer community. Southern Miss is a very talented squad that will give us a good challenge, so we need a lot of Maroon & White in the stands at Gulfport High School supporting us."
Following Saturday's contest, MSU returns to spring action Mar. 2 as it ventures to the Jackson area to play Ole Miss for the Magnolia Cup. Kickoff for the match is 7 p.m., and State will host a free clinic the following day.
