SARASOTA, Fla. - Today, the Mississippi State women's team completed their second day of play in the Lakeside Ranch Intercollegiate Clay Courts Classic, thus wrapping up the duration of their fall season.

Freshman Petra Ferancova represented the Lady Bulldogs well during the opening round of consolation play, posting an impressive 6-2, 3-6, 10-6 victory against Katherine White of Notre Dame.

Ferancova fell in the semi final round to C.C. Sardhina of Oklahoma State 2-6, 3-6, 10-6.

In response to the victory, assistant coach Courtney Steinbock remarked, "Petra battled very well today. She is playing better and better every match, which is exciting to watch."

Roseline Dion also participated for the Maroon and White, matching up against Julie Sabcinski of the Fighting Irish. Dion retired after falling to Sabcinski in the first set, 6-3.

Steinbock felt that the level of play was beneficial for the team. "I know our girls are eager to continue to learn and grow. That is why we came to this tournament. It had great competition and that's what we need."

The Lady Bulldogs will return to the courts in January to begin the spring season.
