STARKVILLE, Miss - Mississippi State's men's tennis team, coming off a weekend that saw the Bulldogs upset fourth-ranked Tennessee 6-1 Friday before a heartbreaking 4-3 setback to #9 Georgia Sunday, is ranked 25th nationally in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Rankings released Tuesday.

State, 10-7 overall and currently leading the SEC West with a 5-3 league record, is in the top 25 for the first time since February 2006. Friday's win over the Volunteers was State's first over a top 4 foe since 2002.

The Bulldogs have won five of their last seven matches with the only losses coming in 4-3 nailbiters against #19 Florida and #9 Georgia.

"Our guys have been giving great effort and focusing very well lately, and are deserving of our latest ranking," MSU head coach Per Nilsson said. "But we have to continue to work hard because we still have a very tough schedule remaining."

The Bulldog tennis squad will battle a pair of SEC West foes this weekend, travelling to #21 Auburn Friday, April 8, at 5 p.m. before meeting #42 Alabama Sunday, April 10, at 1 p.m. in Tuscaloosa.

Following this weekend's competition, MSU returns home on Saturday, April 16, to host 32nd-ranked arch rival Ole Miss in the regular season closer. Match time between the Bulldogs and Rebels is set for 1 p.m. at MSU's A.J. Pitts Tennis Centre.
