STARKVILLE, Miss. - Mississippi State senior captains Derek Sherrod and Chris White were both recognized for their efforts in the Bulldogs' 24-17 victory over Kentucky by earning Southeastern Conference weekly awards, the league office announced Monday.

Sherrod was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for the third time in five weeks after helping the Bulldog offense rush for 214 yards and average 5.5 yards per carry against the Wildcats. State has rushed for more than 200 yards in five consecutive games and have passed the century mark in every game this year (and 20 of 21 games dating back to 2009).

White earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week after posting a career-high 15 tackles with one tackle for loss and one interception. He led a Bulldog defense that held Kentucky to only 89 rushing yards on 43 attempts. White currently ranks third in the conference in tackles, third in tackles for loss and tied for fifth in sacks.

The Bulldogs do not play this weekend, and will resume play on Nov. 13 at Alabama. The conference office announced Monday kickoff is set for 6:15 p.m., and the game will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2.
