STARKVILLE, Miss. - Bolstered by a solid 16-9 Tuesday night win at No. 29 Southern Miss, Mississippi State's Baseball Bulldogs (22-31/5-22 SEC) travel on to Baton Rouge, La., to close out their 2010 baseball campaign with a three-game Thursday-Saturday series at No. 23 LSU (34-19/12-15 SEC).

Game times at the new Alex Box Stadium are set for 7 p.m. both Thursday and Friday and 3 p.m. Saturday. The radio broadcasts of all three games can be heard on the 14-station MSU Baseball Radio Network, with live audio available online to subscribers of MSU's "Maroon to the Max" (MStateAthletics.com/m2mlive).

Senior lefty Tyler Whitney (0-3, 6.31) and freshman right-hander Chris Stratton (4-3, 5.80) are set to open on the hill for State in the first two games, both televised regionally by Cox Sports Television. MSU's starting pitcher for Saturday's series and season finale, to be aired regionally by Comcast Sports Southeast, has not been determined.

The Bulldogs scored 12 runs over the final four innings Tuesday night in registering a 16-9 win in Hattiesburg over the Golden Eagles.

Freshman lefty Chad Girodo picked up his second win of the year with a career-first and staff-fourth complete-game pitching performance. At the plate, senior outfielder Ryan Duffy went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs and senior infielder Jet Butler doubled, homered and drove in a season-high four runs in a three-hit effort. State first baseman Connor Powers (.387) also collected three hits.

LSU, the defending national champion, dropped a 9-1 decision at Tulane Tuesday night. The Tigers enter the final weekend of league play in a four-way tie for seventh in the overall SEC standings and are paced at the plate by outfielder Micah Gibbs (.410), first baseman Blake Dean (62 RBI) and designated hitter Matt Gaudet (16 home runs).
