STARKVILLE, Miss. - Freshman Ben Bracewell singled in two runs in the second inning and Jet Butler delivered a two-run double an inning later Saturday afternoon to lift the Maroon team to a 7-2 win over the Gray squad and a 2-1 advantage in the five-game MSU Fall World Series at Dudy Noble Field.

The Grays took a brief 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on Luke Bole's RBI double. But Maroon sophomore starter Caleb Reed worked around a bases-loaded jam before leaving the game in the fourth and freshman Kendalll Graveman allowed just one run over the final three frames to preserve the win.

Girodo took the loss, yielding four runs on five hits during his three-inning stint. Collins, who replaced Girodo in the fourth, gave up a first-pitch home run to Jonathan Ogden and two more runs in the fifth when the first four Maroon batters reached safely. Wes Thigpen singled in one run and Jaron Shepherd drove in another with an infield groundout.
