Two Bulldogs Advance At Day One Of USTA Players’ Choice Open

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – It was a dominating first day for the Mississippi State men’s tennis squad in Birmingham, Ala., as senior Malte Stropp and sophomore Jordan Angus advanced to the second round of qualifying play at the 2013 USTA Players’ Choice Open.

Stropp opened up play against Jordan Dyke, shutting out Dyke for a 6-0, 6-0 victory. Angus followed with a 6-3, 6-3 victory against Oliver Reynolds.

With the wins, both Stropp and Angus advance to second-round play Saturday. Both will need three wins to advance to main draw play, which begins Tuesday, Oct. 22.
