PENSACOLA, Fla. - In third-round action Sunday, four Mississippi State men's tennis players advanced to the finals of qualifying play at the USTA Pensacola Futures with victories.

MSU's Pedro Dumont, the qualifying round's top seed, fought off a tough first set to claim a straight-sets victory against Wataru Nakagawa 7-6(3), 6-3. State's other two seeded players, Stefan Vinti (No. 6 seed) and Romain Bogaerts (No. 7 seed) also earned straight-set wins. Vinti defeated Ognjen Samardzic 6-4, 6-2. Bogaerts overpowered Joan-Marc Grimal-Ferrer 6-2, 6-3.

State freshman Jordan Angus was the fourth Bulldog to punch his ticket to Monday's final round. Angus upended Davis Mark Dawson 6-0, 6-2.

MSU senior James Chaudry and junior Malte Stropp both saw their run to the final round cut short by injury. Chaudry dropped his match to No. 2 seed Florent Diep after retiring in the first set due to injury with the score 4-1. Stropp was also forced to retire after dropping his first set to Jarred Wynan 6-4.

All four remaining Bulldogs will compete in final round action tomorrow, with the winners earning a spot in the main draw, which will begin Tuesday, Oct. 30.
