STARKVILLE, Miss. - Sophomore goalie CJ Winship stopped a season-high 10 shots as the Mississippi State soccer team fell 3-0 to Georgia Friday night at the MSU Soccer Field.

The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 8-9-1 overall and 1-9-1 in SEC play. Georgia improved to 7-9-2 overall and 3-6-2 in the league.

Georgia struck the winner early, as Nicole Locandro scored her first of two goals on a sixth-minute corner kick.

"I thought we were very lackluster tonight. We didn't play at a high-enough tempo and challenge the ball like we needed to," head coach Neil Macdonald said. "I thought CJ played really well considering she faced a lot of shots. She is professional every single day she comes out, giving every single ounce of energy to our program. Tomorrow we need to move past this one and get ready for Arkansas."

Mississippi State was never able to get on track offensively, as Georgia claimed a 22-5 shots advantage. MSU was able to put just one of its attempts on target.

State's lone test of UGA goalie Ashley Baker came from distance off the foot of freshman Shelby Jordan in the 25th minute.

Junior Elisabeth Sullivan paced Mississippi State with two shots in the contest.

The SEC Eastern Division Bulldogs took the 1-0 advantage to halftime, but they extended the lead in the 64th minute when Locandro  found Chika Ibiam on a cross for a one-timer past Winship.

Locandro capped the scoring as she converted a penalty kick in the 69th minute.

Mississippi State returns to action Sunday, hosting Arkansas in a 3 p.m. contest that will be televised by ESPNU. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match as part of MSU's annual "Kick For the Cure" to help support the fight against breast cancer.
