COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Texas A&M spread 46 kills among 11 players Sunday afternoon as the SEC West-leading Aggies (14-2, 6-1 SEC) cruised past Mississippi State (4-12, 0-7 SEC) in Southeastern Conference volleyball at TAMU's Reed Arena.

TAMU claimed the initial Aggie-Bulldog volleyball match 25-8, 15-14, 25-10, leading from start to finish in all three sets.

Tori Mellinger took match honors with seven kills and 15 digs.

"There's a reason Texas A&M has only lost twice this season," said head coach Jenny Hazelwood. "They are a veteran team and are so solid in all areas. And with so many freshmen on the court for us, it was a tough assignment our team to begin the volleyball series with an outstanding Texas A&M program. I predict they will go far in this year's NCAA Tournament."

The Bulldogs were paced by sophomore middle Lainey Wyman with five kills and three blocks. Freshman Taylor Hackemack, in her second start as the Bulldogs' setter and third overall, registered a career-first double-double with 17 assists and a team-best 11 digs. Roxanne McVey, the SEC digs leader, finished with 10 digs, raising her season total to 402.

"Hack (Taylor Hackemack) showed a lot of poise for us this weekend in her new role as our starting setter," added Hazelwood. "Today she gave us a nice defensive effort. She'll get better as she grows into her role."

TAMU hit .356 for the match and led in kills 46-19.

Mississippi State's road-heavy SEC schedule continues this weekend with a Friday match at Kentucky (4 p.m. CT at Rupp Arena) and a nationally-televised (ESPNU) Sunday match at Missouri (12:30 p.m. CT).
