ERIE, Colo. - Collegiate golfers from around the country ventured into postseason play Thursday, as participants took to the Colorado National Golf Course for the NCAA West Regional on the par-72, 6,575-yard course.

Mississippi State's own Ally McDonald attacked the course to finish with a 7-over par for the first round of the regional to tie for fifth place.

The 79 total score for the Fulton, Miss., native in the first round is slightly above her 74.22 average. McDonald is currently on pace to break MSU's all-time single-season freshman scoring record, as she is only two-hundredths of a stroke away from setting the overall mark.

The talented freshman will tee off Friday at 1:45 p.m. and at 9:25 a.m. Saturday to finish the NCAA West Regional .

McDonald became the first Lady Bulldog to participate in postseason action since Amanda Mathis played in the 2007 East Regional.

Live stats for each round will be available through golfstat.com.
