STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State volleyball will have eight regular-season contests broadcast on the SEC Network and ESPNU this season, while the Bulldog soccer team will appear twice on the SEC Network.
AT&T U-Verse, DISH, Google Fiber and National Rural Telecommunications cooperative (NRTC) have agreed to carry the SEC Network. Fans not wanting to miss any of the action can demand the SEC Network by calling their cable/satellite provider or going to www.getsecnetwork.com.
Five of MSU volleyball’s six games on the newly-formed SEC Network come at home, beginning with a Sunday, Oct. 5 match against Florida.
"We are incredibly excited about the national exposure our program will have with the SEC Network and the ongoing partnership with ESPN,” Jenny Hazelwood said. “Fans will have unprecedented access to volleyball on television and that is a great thing for our sport and for our volleyball program at Mississippi State. We will be putting a very exciting brand of volleyball on the floor this fall and we are looking forward to showcasing that to a national television audience through the SEC Network and ESPNU."
The SEC Network will also broadcast home contests against Missouri (Oct. 19), Auburn (Oct. 31) and Kentucky (Nov. 23). The Bulldogs’ Nov. 21 match at Georgia was also picked up by the SEC Network.
The Bulldogs’ road matches at LSU on Oct. 8 and Alabama on Nov. 12 will be carried by ESPNU, while the network will also broadcast the Nov. 5 game against rival Ole Miss at the Newell-Grissom Building.
Mississippi State soccer’s debut on the SEC Network comes Sept. 19 when the Bulldogs host the Rebels in the annual battle for the Magnolia Cup.
The Bulldogs’ Oct. 23 contest at Auburn will also be televised by the SEC Network.
“We are excited to have the SEC Network as a platform to showcase SEC soccer to fans across the nation,” Aaron Gordon said. “To have the SEC Network carrying soccer on a regular basis is a benefit for our program and the other schools in the SEC. We are excited to have our games on the SEC Network, especially our home game against Ole Miss. The Magnolia Cup is such a great rivalry, and to have it on our campus on the SEC Network will add so much more to that game.”
An additional slate of games, to be announced at a later date, will be carried on the SEC Network’s digital platforms. All SEC Network and ESPNU games will be available on WatchESPN.
The SEC Network, a new 24/7 sports network launching August 14 and operated by ESPN, will elevate the Southeastern Conference volleyball and soccer programs with unprecedented national television coverage. This season’s matchups will increase from a total of 14 events in 2013 to 80 events in 2014. The SEC Network alone will air a combined 65 live women’s volleyball and women’s soccer games in its debut year - more than five times the number of events available nationwide last year.
The 80 games scheduled by the SEC and ESPN include:
- 40 Women’s Volleyball games on SEC Network
- 25 Women’s Soccer games on SEC Network
- 10 Women’s Volleyball games on ESPNU
- 5 Women’s Soccer games on ESPNU
For the first time, SEC soccer will have a consistent television series, airing every Thursday at 7 p.m. ET beginning Aug. 22 through the regular season, with additional matchups on Sundays. The SEC Network will also televise the First Round, Quarterfinal and Semifinal rounds of the SEC Soccer Tournament. Volleyball will air consistently on Wednesdays and Sundays through the regular season.
