STARKVILLE, Miss. – Senior Sam Lenahan, a native of Lawrenceville, Ga., has been named a Peach of an Athlete by the Atlanta Area Council Boy Scouts of America. She will join 12 amateur athletes who are being honored as outstanding role models for youth in athletics, academics and community service during a March 25, presentation in Atlanta.

Lenahan, who enters her final campaign as a Bulldog ranking in the top 10 in nearly every Mississippi State career offensive category, was chosen for her mix of success on and off the field. In the classroom, she is a three-time President’s Scholar (Fall 2010, Fall 2011 and Spring 2012) and was placed on the Dean’s Scholar list in the Spring of 2011. She is a 2012 and 2011 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar Athlete and has made the SEC Academic Honor Roll all three years of her career.

In the community, Lenahan has spent time with Pumpkin-Pa-Looza, Thanksgiving Food Drive, Ward Stewart Elementary Luncheon, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life and softball youth clinics.

On the field, Lehanan was a 2013 Second-Team Easton All-American and NFCA All-South Region Second-Team member. As a sophomore in 2012, she earned NFCA All-South Region First-Team honors after being a 2011 All-SEC Freshman Team selection.

Joining Lenahan in receiving recognition are Christian Conley, football player at the University of Georgia, and Shayla Bivins, basketball player at Georgia Tech, who are the top male and female athletes of the year. Other selections include Alysha Rudnik (Georgia Tech), Morgan Jackson (Georgia Tech), Ali Elkhalil (Georgia State), Shanteona Keys (Georgia College), Isaiah Johnson (Georgia Tech), Kailyn Blackmon (Clark Atlanta University), Juwan Thompson (Duke), Kate Fuller (University of Georgia), and Immanuel Kerr (Duke).
