Athens, Ga. - NCAA Postseason play in men's golf teed off Thursday with players from around the country vying for the chance to play for the championship in late May.

Mississippi State was represented well in the opening round of the Athens Regional, as Chad Ramey posted a 2-over par 73 at the 7,253-yard University of Georgia Golf Course.

The sophomore from Fulton, Miss., who was 1-under on the back nine, is currently tied for 43rd.

Ramey currently owns the SEC's 18th-best scoring average at 72.39, which is also on pace to be the sixth-lowest season average in Mississippi State history.

The All-SEC member will tee off alongside Jay Mulieri of Loyola-Maryland and David Denlinger of Charleston Southern at 8:50 a.m. Friday for the second round of action in the Southeastern Regional.

Ramey is the first Bulldog to earn a postseason appearance as an individual since Joe Deraney in 2005.

Live stats for each round will be available through GolfStat.com and NCAA.com.
