2012:
Saw playing time in 52 games, tops among seven Bulldog true freshmen to play in 2012 • Starter in 34 games, 27 at second base and seven at shortstop • Made his collegiate debut as the opening day starter at shortstop against Washington State (Feb. 17) • Hit .177 with a hit in 15 of his 34 games as a starter •  Delivered a sacrifice fly in his first plate appearance and later added a career-first single against the Cougars • Drew the first of his 27 starts at second base in the series-finale against Washington State (Feb. 19) • Turned in a career-best 3-for-5, 2-RBI plate performance in series finale against Tennessee • Singled and scored the winning run on a wild pitch in MSU's sweep-clinching 14-inning win over the Vols • Also singled twice in win over Mississippi Valley State (May 8) • Closed out his rookie campaign with back-to-back two-hit games (vs. UAB June 2 and Samford June 3) in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional • Legged out a double against UAB for his first career extra-base hit • Named to the All-Tallahassee Regional Team as a second baseman • Hit .135 and opened as a starter in 14 of his 23 SEC games played • Among seven Bulldogs named to the 2012 SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll • Played summer league baseball with the Danville (Ill.) HIGH SCHOOL:
Three-year starting shortstop and four-year letter-winner at Cullman High School • Coached by Brent Patterson • Earned all-state honors in 2011 after hitting .452 in 56 games played • Scored 75 runs, fifth-most all-time in Alabama, with a school record-setting 86 hits, including 22 doubles and seven home runs and drove in 45 runs • Also pitched for CHS, posting a 6-3 record with three saves and 49 strikeouts • Captained the 2011 Bearcats team that finished with a 45-10 record and state runner-up finish •  Drew starts in all 46 games as a junior, hitting .365 with 14 extra-base hits, including seven home runs, and 30 RBI • Also pilfered 19 bases in 20 attempts • Earned first-team all-state honors as a sophomore in 2009, fashioning a team-best .365 batting average with 65 hits, including 25 for extra bases • Scored the state championship-clinching run for Cullman in 2008 • Played summer league baseball with the Florida Bombers, coached by Emilio Fernandez • Also a four-year standout as a defensive back for the CHS football team • Member of the Cullman HS chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
